Long Bio

Alex Fox is an entrepreneur born in Ukraine and raised in Italy. He led the local operations of Ernest Airlines, turned a historic 1882 book factory in Lviv into the OK Factory innovation hub, and founded Faktorist, the platform that connects Ukrainian producers to global markets — built in large part during the war, between blackouts and air-raid sirens. He speaks six languages and takes the stage at international conferences on War-Life-Balance and economic resilience. He lives between Lviv and Italy. Everything Will Be OK is his first book. Published by Factory FZE, Everything Will Be OK — Building Bridges Through War, Crisis, and Chaos tells the story from his childhood in Italy to Maidan, OK Factory, Ernest Airlines, the pandemic and the full-scale war, when he built the BRAVE hub with generators, Starlink and a bunker. In chapter 11 he sets out War-Life-Balance — “a forced evolution of the traditional work-life-balance” — on three pillars: infrastructural, emotional, and strategic resilience. The book was written and adapted in English, Italian, and Ukrainian.

Suggested Interview Questions

Question 01
“You call War-Life-Balance ‘a forced evolution of the traditional work-life-balance.’ What are its three pillars?”
Question 02
“Your team ran the local operations of Ernest Airlines, an airline financed by a Minecraft co-founder — until the licence was revoked and the pandemic closed the skies. Then came the war. How do you keep building after that?”
Question 03
“You write that ‘Everything Will Be OK’ is ‘not an expression of blind optimism. It is a declaration of war against the impossible.’ What do you mean?”
Question 04
“You talk about H2H — Human to Human — and keeping a human in the loop. What does that mean in practice?”
Question 05
“In the autumn of 2022 you turned a closed nightclub in Lviv into BRAVE, a hub with generators, Starlink and a bunker. What did a working day there look like?”
Question 06
“An investor in the Canary Islands told you: ‘That’s Alibaba of Ukraine.’ Is that accurate? What’s the vision for Faktorist?”
Question 07
“More than ten million Ukrainians live abroad. How does the UAmbassadors program turn them into bridges between producers and buyers?”
Question 08
“The book describes an ‘emergency bag’ — with an issue of Diabolik in it. Why do you recommend the exercise even in peacetime?”
Question 09
“The book has a chapter that never ends and an AI, SofiIA, native to the book. Why?”
Question 10
“You write: ‘If today were the last day of our journey, would I do what I’m doing right now?’ How do you use that question in normal times?”

Excerpts from the Book

On War-Life-Balance
“Working often by candlelight during the blackouts, with the constant hum of generators as a soundtrack, with air-raid sirens interrupting meetings and sirens marking out the days, I developed an approach I called ‘war-life-balance’ — a forced evolution of the traditional work-life-balance.” — Everything Will Be OK, chapter 11
On Resilience
“Judith Rodin, in her work ‘The Resilience Dividend,’ proposes a paradigm I embraced completely: true resilience is not returning to how things were, but harnessing the shock to become better than before.” — Everything Will Be OK, chapter 11
On the Diaspora
“Every Ukrainian abroad is potentially a living bridge between the country of origin and the one that hosts them. It was not about exploiting the tragedy, but about transforming geographic dispersion into a competitive advantage, the pain of emigration into a constructive economic force.” — Everything Will Be OK, chapter 13
On H2H
“Whether it’s customers, businesses, governments, distributors — until AI has completely stolen every automation process from us — our approach always calls for the human in the loop in the decision-making process. Why? Simply because there are people on both sides.” — Everything Will Be OK, chapter 9
